Meting down Antarctica’s ice


In Peter’s (2008) article “Antarctica’s Wilkins ice Shelf eroding at an unforeseen pace” the author explains Antarctic has a problem, which is Wilkins ice shelf is going to melt. Also this problem will make some problems, like changing the region and raising the sea level. The Wilkins ice Shelf is annually getting smeller; it is a big issuer of a global problem and he discusses the fact that Wilkins Ice Shelf is different from the other ice because it is more gradually thickened than others. This ice shelf helps the other ice keep standing. Also he says scientists have to discover some way to change the strange climate and ocean conditions that might be the cause of Antarctica’s ice melting.

Nowadays, the earth has lots of environmental problems such as Antarctica’s ice melting. Actually, Antarctica is the coldest area in the world, so they have a large ice area. But now the ice is melting and it causes an environmental problem. The biggest problem of ice melting is global warming. Now the earth is getting hotter and hotter. This is the main reason for Antarctica’s ice melting. People have to prevent this problem or how global warming will influence the earth.

First of all, Global warming destroyed Environment. Now the earth’s temperature is going up annually, and this explaining why Antarctica’s ice is going to melt, which is the reason for the sea level rise. This is the problem for animals and humans. If ice is melting, Antarctica’s animals are losing their area. And the sea floods some islands. However, the rising sea level is annually getting higher. This is the most serious problem of global warming.

Next, Global warming make catastrophic weather. Powerful hurricanes, strong tornados, and big tsunamis are caused by strange weather. Last winter Florida had some strange event, which was suddenly that the temperature went down, so lots of tropical animals and plant were dying. It could explain why earth now has confusing weather. It is also a risk of the earth.

Last, Global warming brings Health Risks. Malaria is an epidemic disease from mosquitoes. The earth temperature is going up; that also brings mosquitoes’ rate going up too. Global warming also provides health problems for humans. If people do not prevent this problem that will became the most serious problem.

In conclusion, global warming is no longer just an environmental problem but is the biggest problem for human, If people don’t solve this problem, humans are going to be killed and animals exterminated. Humans live on the earth; it is our settlement, so people should protect the earth by themselves. This is human’s job and responsibility.
